Do events in the world creep into your paintings?

Just a question fueled by curiosity. I find sometimes that when there are a lot of crazy things happening in the world and I go down the proverbial rabbit hole, I see it in the mood of my paintings. It might be as simple as a color choice, a moody landscape, or some element I didn’t intend to include in the finished product.

Does this happen to you? How is it reflected in your own work?

  1. Very definitely. I think how we feel about life and the world at any particular moment certainly influences our art, our music, our writing. Any creative pursuit that comes from within can be influenced by our subconscious and our general sense of wellbeing. Great post.
