Inspiration

As a landscape painter, I find most of my inspiration from being out in nature, and I have a particular love of the ocean and the forest. There’s something about the sights, sounds and smells that always reminds me why I paint. Trying to capture the beauty of nature gives me a purpose.

This photo was taken a few months ago on the Southern Oregon Coast. there was something about the way the light shaft was coming down and the reflection of the sun sparkling on the water that spoke to me. I’ve been playing with ideas for a few weeks now on how to bring this photo to life in watercolor.

What about you? where is your place? What makes you feel the urge to do whatever creative thing you do?

  1. Beautiful. I have the same creative inspirations, the beauty of nature, especially the coast. There is something that speaks to the soul, allows those creative juices to burst forth. I can spend hours just watching the waves, each one different to the one before. Wonderful post on creative inspiration.

      1. Tasty, and so much better on the coast than inland. You can taste the freshness. Best enjoyed with a loved one watching the ocean.

  2. I love painting beaches and breaking waves. Always something different when you go down to the sea.
