Watercolor beginners: Love mistakes and accidents

Not quite the plan

When I started painting this it wasn’t going to be a misty scene.

I ran into an issue when one spot on the paper had a small spot where the sizing was damaged and wouldn’t accept paint.

No worries. It became a misty scene instead.

The intended moral of this story is to keep going, even when things don’t go as planned.

You will get back runs and oopsies, sometimes it will be your fault and other times not. Keep going. If you still hate it when you finish, walk away for a day and then decide what to do with it.

Often in painting as in other things in life, you learn more from mistakes than successes.

Take on the challenges and push through them. Just keep painting.

  1. Wise words. Sometimes we have to work around the limitations imposed upon by circumstances outside our control, and often it opens up something different to us. Beautiful painting.

      1. Thinking like that is a great approach. Far better than just ditching a project.

  2. Get the feeling this advice goes for more than painting.
