Painting out of season.

I’d rather be here

Nevada is hot during the summertime. Consistently over 100 degrees, my paints dry up immediately, no time for extended wet washes, and sometimes it feels like the air never moves.

So I like to paint out of season. When it’s freezing during the winter, I find myself painting tropical beaches and spring and summer meadows. When it’s horribly hot, I paint water scenes and winter.

Of course, I paint other stuff, too, but I seem to enjoy the escapism of being somewhere else, where the climate is nicer to me?

Do you daydream in painting? what do you do that takes you away from everyday life?
